Raja is a native of Kathmandu, Nepal. The field of entrepreneurship is his passion and he is a successful serial entrepreneur and academician. At present, Raja is a faculty with the Western Kentucky University Center for Entrepreneurship. His teaching areas of expertise lie in small business analysis and strategy, international entrepreneurship, small business management, innovation and creativity, venture financing, business planning, and social entrepreneurship. He has started numerous businesses including Kumari Rugs (www.kumarirugs.com), with established manufacturing in Kathmandu, Nepal and distribution in North America. In addition, he has consulted successfully with local and regional small businesses in raising capital to sustain their growth.
Raja is a strong believer in the concept that global economic growth is tied closely to entrepreneurship and how we innovate and create will dictate the type of world we will live in. He has been involved in curriculum development for both undergraduate and graduate levels in entrepreneurship.
He completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies in Kentucky and is a fellow of the University of South Carolina Faculty Development Program in International Business and the Kentucky Entrepreneurial Coaches Institute at the University of Kentucky. He serves as the Chair for the Indo-Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, a local economic development start-up organization that focuses on expanding and promoting trade between India and Kentucky. He loves to travel and is an avid soccer (futbol) fan as well as a player. In addition, he is the 2004 Entrepreneurial Spirit Award winner from the Western Kentucky University Gordon Ford College of Business.
